South Tyrol's Olympians on their way to Paris

The countdown to the Olympic Games in Paris has long since begun: the opening ceremony will take place on Friday. Here is a brief overview of the South Tyrolean participants.

Six South Tyroleans will take part in the Olympics in Paris. Jannik Sinner , who is currently ailing, is South Tyrol's number one hope for a medal. The draw for the tennis tournament will take place on Thursday. Sinner will therefore play his first round at Roland Garros on Saturday or Sunday.

Barbara Gambaro is already in action twice this weekend. On Saturday, the sports shooter from Schlanders will make her Olympic debut in the mixed competition. Accordingly, Gambaro already traveled to Paris on Tuesday. Verena Steinhauser will not arrive in the French capital until Saturday. The triathlete has her first competition next Wednesday.

A picture before leaving Rome for Paris has SportNews from Simone Giannelli, Deborah Vivarelli and Giorgia Piccolin on Tuesday afternoon. For Giannelli, who is South Tyrol's greatest medal hope alongside Sinner, the games begin on Saturday with the first preliminary round volleyball match between Italy and Brazil. The table tennis players Piccolin and Vivarelli will start in the first women's round (from Saturday to Monday).
