Svindal, Klæbo & Co. celebrate their colleagues

Norway missed out on reaching the World Cup semi-finals for the first time. Numerous winter sports stars watched their bitter quarter-final defeat against England with bated breath.

Norway had never before progressed so far in a World Cup. The euphoria throughout the country – and among Norwegian sports stars – was correspondingly immense. However, the fairytale ended in extra time in the quarter-final against England. Nevertheless, the entire country is proud of its footballers.

Ski legend Aksel Lund Svindal was among the Norwegian fans at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. The two-time overall World Cup winner had accompanied the team with his family and had previously participated in the "Viking Row" event in the city center. After the game, the former skier shared another post with the following words: What a fairytale! Thank you for the entertainment and the inspiration.

In Norway itself, numerous other winter sports stars cheered on the team from television or in public squares. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo even trained in the national team jersey. Atle Lie McGrath, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Timon Haugan, Henrik Kristoffersen, and Johannes Thingnes Bø also hoped in vain for another historic success.
