Tanel starts the ski roller season with a podium finish

The 2026 ski roller season has started promisingly from a South Tyrolean point of view: Matteo Tanel immediately made it onto the podium in San Marino.

At the second edition of the San Marino Cup last weekend, virtually the entire Italian national team was competing. Accordingly, the level of competition was high at this first test of form before the World Cup summer season. Emanuele Becchis and Anna Maria Ghiddi had already made the most prominent impressions with their victories in the sprint events.

Then the action got underway in the 15-kilometer mass start races. In the men's race, Riccardo Lorenzo Masiero prevailed in a close finale ahead of Tommaso Dellagiacoma. Just a few seconds behind, Matteo Tanel also had reason to celebrate: The Branzoll native crossed the finish line in third place, 4,6 seconds behind the winner, demonstrating early in the season that he is a force to be reckoned with.

Maria Invernizzi won the women's race, with Anna Maria Ghiddi and Maria Boccardi finishing behind her on the podium.
