No happy Easter Sunday for Carlos Alcaraz

The final of the ATP tournament in Barcelona took place on Easter Sunday, but the favorite did not prevail.

Carlos Alcaraz faced Holger Rune in the final of the ATP tournament in Barcelona on Easter Sunday. The Spaniard entered the match as the favorite, but it was another player who would celebrate at the end of the match: Rune from Denmark, somewhat unexpectedly, prevailed 7:6 (8:6) and 6:2 to claim the crown.

With this defeat, Alcaraz has to give up second place in the ATP ranking, which he had only recently regained, to Alexander Zverev. The German, who celebrated his 28th birthday on Sunday, triumphed at the ATP tournament in Munich.

Rune played brilliantly on Easter Sunday. Just a few days ago, he had to retire from the tournament in Monaco, and now he triumphed in Barcelona. In the first set, he recovered a break that Alcaraz had managed, while Rune dominated the second set, clinching the win 6-2 – partly because Alcaraz was struggling with a problem in his right groin.

Sinner comeback is getting closer

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner's comeback is getting closer. The 23-year-old from Sexten is currently preparing for the ATP tournament in Rome, which will take place between May 7 and 18. Following that, the second Grand Slam of the year is scheduled: the "King of Clay" will be determined at the French Open between May 25 and June 8.
