With Grand Slam record: Djokovic is further

Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has set another milestone in his career at the Australian Open.

The 37-year-old Serb played his 6th Grand Slam match in the second round against Portuguese Jaime Faria, 1:6, 7:4, (7:6), 3:6, 2:430, thus overtaking Swiss tennis icon Roger Federer.

"I am blessed to have been able to set another record today," said the 24-time Grand Slam tournament winner. "I love this sport, I love competitions." Whether he wins or loses, one thing is certain, Djokovic stressed: "That I will always put my heart on the court."

As in his opening victory against the carefree US youngster Nishesh Basavareddy, Djokovic also had a few problems against the qualifier Faria and had to give up a set. But the clear favorite pulled himself together again and ended the match with an ace after three hours. Djokovic praised his opponent afterwards: "I told him at the net: the future is bright for you, just keep going."

In the third round, the world number seven will face the Czech Tomas Machac, seeded 26th. Djokovic is aiming for his eleventh triumph in Melbourne.
