Jannik Sinner must have enjoyed this day especially. On Thursday, the Sexten native completed his first official tennis training session after more than two months off. In Beaulieu-sur-Mer, a French town between his adopted home of Monte Carlo and Nice, the world number one swung his racket with great joy (and power).
Since Sunday, Sinner, who is currently suspended due to the doping scandal, has been allowed to train on official tennis courts again. In recent days, the weather has thwarted the superstar's plans, preventing him from hitting the court at his usual training base in Monte Carlo. Therefore, the 23-year-old has now switched to the indoor courts in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, where he trained on the red clay court with a prominent colleague.
Training with Jack Draper
On the other side of the net was world No. 6 Jack Draper. He is not only a top-class training partner for Sinner, but also a good friend of the Pustertal native. Draper has consistently stood by South Tyrol's Sportsman of the Year in recent weeks and months and has also publicly expressed his support. The two star players last faced each other in the semifinals of the US Open in September 2024.Jannik Sinner's eagerly awaited comeback on the ATP Tour is rapidly approaching. The Sexten native is suspended until May 4, and a few days later, he will finally return to action at the Masters 1000 tournament in Rome.
