Mountain Tennis Trophy Neumarkt: D'Agostino and Viertler win
The ATC Neumarkt can look back on an open tennis tournament that was successful in every respect: the organizers around tournament director Robert Zanotti were able to attract a total of 254 (!) players - 194 men and 60 women - to their own facility and thus offered the local tennis scene eleven days an ideal assessment of where we stand before crucial weeks in the team championships. In the end, Stefano D'Agostino triumphed among the men and repeat offender Marion Viertler triumphed among the women.

The players knew how to put a worthy final note behind a memorable extended tournament week with furious finals on May 1st: in the men's competition, Manuel Plunger (ASV Partschins | ATP #1327 | 2.4) and Stefano D'Agostino (TC Kaltern | ATP #1505) met |. 2.3) two good friends who are on the ITF tour together. For the women, however, Marion Viertler (TC Meran | 2.4) won the Neumarkt hat trick and her second title at this year's Mountain Tennis Trophy in as many competitions. In the final of the two South Tyrolean protagonists of the season so far, she was also able to win the sixth comparison in the 2024 calendar year with Sofia Selle (TC Gherdeina | 2.6) - this time it was a smooth 6:2, 6:0. Previously, Viertler was able to prevail against Tasha Cacciato (Tennis Olimpica Dossobuono | 2.7), while Selle stopped Anna Costaperaria (TC Comune di Bolzano | 2.8). “I know Sofia well and have seen her play often - I think she has a little more difficulty against me than against others and she makes more mistakes when she plays against me. Actually, I find it more difficult to play against such offensive players like her, but with my slice and my stops I was able to move them well," said a happy Viertler in the winner's interview with Plopp.
In the conclusion of the third category, 12-year-old Lilli Marth (ATC Passeier | 3.1) was able to prevail against Sofia Gozzi (Canottieri Mincio GS | 3) after a 6:6, 1:12, 10-3.1 thriller Men's Thomas Dallapiazza (TC Rungg | 3.1) retained the upper hand in the duel between two training partners against Samuel Vanzetta (TC Rungg | 3.1) with 7:6(5), 6:3. In the fourth category, however, Silvia Kaufmann (ASV Deutschnofen Tennis | 4.1) won against Maria C. Obkircher (Haslacher SV | 4.1) with 6:2, 6:2. In the men's category, Wolfgang Prossliner (FC Gries Tennis | 4.1) won the generational duel Beat Fabio Costaperaria (TC Bozen | 4.1) 6:7(4), 6:4, 10-7.
