Sinner shines before Serena Williams’ eyes: “Very satisfied”

With a strong performance and a never-in-doubt 3-set victory, Jannik Sinner has advanced to the round of XNUMX at the US Open. The South Tyrolean was accordingly satisfied after the match.

It was a great match. My serve was really good, I'm very happy," said Jannik Sinner after his victory over Christopher O'Connell, which he achieved in front of Serena Williams and others. The number 87 in the ATP world rankings had no chance against the Sextner. With Sinner won the match 6:1, 6:4, 6:2, which brought him a duel with the strong local hero Tommy Paul (ATP 14) in the round of XNUMX.

In the entire match against O'Connell, Sinner did not allow a single break point - and that was thanks to a strong serving performance with 15 aces. It is no wonder that Sinner is now considered the top favorite to win the US Open. Sinner seems to be slowly but surely putting the doping story behind him, and the competition is weakening. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are already out.

However, the 23-year-old Sinner did not expect his first US Open triumph to be a walk in the park. "Anything can happen in this sport. I try to stay on my side of the net," Sinner stressed. If he triumphs in Flushing Meadows, it will be his second major success after the one at the Australian Open earlier this year.
