Semifinals! Sinner's demonstration of force against Musetti

Many fans in the principality were prepared for a longer day of tennis. At the end, the many spectators from Italy saw the duel between their two super talents Jannik Sinner (ATP 8) and Lorenzo Musetti (ATP 21). But Sinner had to deal with that Djokovic conqueror no problems at all and showed impressively who is currently the best tennis player in the boot state. After just 1:16 hours of play, the South Tyrolean defeated the man from Carrara (Tuscany) 6:2 and 6:2. This is the third time this year that Sinner has reached the semi-finals of a Masters tournament.

Right from the start, Sinner not only allowed Musetti to develop and acted without compromise. In contrast to the match against Djokovic, the clay court was dry this time. When the sun is shining, the felt ball bounces up faster. That didn't exactly play into Musetti's hands - just like Sinner's style of play. The 21-year-old from Puster had an answer to almost every question compared to his colleague of the same age (Sinner is only a few months older). At the start of the second half, Musetti seemed to get into the game better. But Sinner made the big points. When he took a 2-1 lead through a break, the thing was as good as over. Musetti was rarely able to use his strengths. Sinner's aggressiveness also led him to a clear 6:2 in the second round. By the way, this was Sinner's 150th victory on the ATP tour and the seventh success in the seventh duel with an Italian.

Semifinal against Rune Sinner will now face Holger Rune (ATP 9) in his first Monte Carlo semi-final. The 19-year-old Dane clearly defeated Daniil Medvedev 6:3 and 6:4 on Friday. The match takes place on Saturday from 15.30:6 p.m. Andrey Rublev (ATP 10) and Taylor Fritz (ATP XNUMX) meet in the other semi-final.

Sinner has played against Rune once so far - last October in the semi-finals in Sofia. At that time, the South Tyrolean had to give up due to injury in the third set shortly before the defeat. Rune won his biggest title in November 2022 when, as an unseeded player, he won the final of the Masters tournament in Paris against Novak Djokovic. Back then on hard court. But the Dane is also extremely strong on sand.
