Zverev as a “bad eater”: Better to swallow a pill

Tennis professional Alexander Zverev sees eating as an annoying necessity.

“If you could give me a pill and I would never have to eat again, I think I would take the pill,” said Zverev in the MagentaTV format “Bestbesetzung” with Johannes B. Kerner.

"For me, eating is somehow a waste of time. I'd rather be someone who spends five hours on the court training," said the 2021 Olympic champion. He is a "very bad eater," said Zverev, who is 1,98 meters tall and has a lanky build. "I eat everything, but I eat incredibly little. So you have to force me to eat."

When he goes on vacation, he's more likely to come home two kilograms lighter than three kilograms heavier. "When I was younger, it was much, much worse. So now I weigh 10, 15 kilos heavier than I did five or six years ago. But I'm not someone who enjoys the food on vacation," said the current number two in the tennis world rankings.
