Brixen triathlete De Nigro is getting better and better

Euan De Nigro is finding his form in the World Triathlon Cup. On Sunday, the Brixen native achieved his first ever top-15 result in Rio de Janeiro (BRA). Verena Steinhauser narrowly missed out.

South Tyrol's triathletes put on a strong showing at the World Triathlon Cup in Rio de Janeiro. 22-year-old Euan De Nigro from Brixen secured a top-15 finish, coming in 14th. This marks the first time in the young South Tyrolean's career that he has finished among the top 15 triathletes in the world.

De Nigro finished exactly one minute behind the winner, Legg Braxton of the USA. Dylan McCullough (NZL/2nd) and Mitch Kolkman (3rd) of the Netherlands completed the podium.

In the women's race, Verena Steinhauser finished in 16th place, narrowly missing the top 15. The Brixen native was 1 minute and 15 seconds behind Zuzana Michalickova (SVK), who won the race on Copacabana Beach – the 2016 Olympic course. Kelly Wetteland (USA/2nd) and Beatrice Mallozzi (Azure) (3rd) also made it onto the podium.
