Race postponed: Olympic triathlon faces fiasco

The men's triathlon at the Olympic Games in Paris is postponed due to dirty water in the Seine.

After two training sessions could not take place recently, the organizers had to cancel the race planned for Tuesday morning (8.00:10.45 a.m.). Tomorrow, Wednesday morning (8.00:XNUMX a.m.) is planned as an alternative date. The women's race (with Verena Steinhauser from Brixen) is to take place before that as planned (XNUMX:XNUMX a.m.).

For days now, there have been concerns about whether the competitions will take place. The rain on Friday and Saturday has polluted the water in the Paris river. Microbiological samples showed that the cleanliness limits were exceeded. As a result, both planned training sessions for men and women were cancelled.

Another replacement date

Early on Tuesday morning, the international triathlon umbrella organization confirmed that the water was not clean enough as hoped. However, if the water values remain insufficient for Wednesday, Friday is still scheduled as an alternative date.
