In the elite race of the second-highest international competition class, De Nigro crossed the finish line with a time of 53:03 minutes, 44 seconds behind winner Solomon Okrafo-Smart from Great Britain. This placed him 16th overall.
After 750 meters in the water, the 21-year-old was in a promising eighth place. The field then tightly packed together on the 20,4-kilometer bike leg: the top 40 were within six seconds of each other, and De Nigro was only two seconds behind first place before the transition to the final run. The five-kilometer run ultimately decided the race, and the Brixen native dropped out of the top 15.
Whether in the World Triathlon Cup or the World Triathlon Championship Series, De Nigro had yet to secure a top-15 finish in 2026. However, his performance in Edmonton underlines that the young South Tyrolean is on the right track.
