Steinhauser achieves best World Championship result of the season

Verena Steinhauser achieved her best result of the season on Sunday at the penultimate World Championship race of the season in Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) in the Czech Republic.

The 31-year-old triathlete from Brixen has not had optimal results in her four starts in the World Triathlon Championships Series this year; 16th place was her best result so far.

In the Czech Republic, she improved her performance once again. Competing in the Olympic distance triathlon (1,5 km swim, 40,8 km bike, 10 km run), she finished in 2:06:51, placing 13th, 3:46 minutes behind the winner, Great Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown. Taylor-Brown won in 2:03:05, ahead of American Taylor Spivey (+36 seconds) and Germany's Lisa Tertsch (+1:28 minutes). Steinhauser had already impressed with an 11th-place finish at the World Cup in Paraguay about a month earlier.

Euan De Nigro, however, was not competing in Karlovy Vary. The Brixen native is preparing for the World Championship final in Spain in two weeks at a high-altitude training camp.
