The Merano canoeists delivered a convincing performance across the board, once again demonstrating their excellence on the international stage. Lukas Mayr secured the European Championship title in the K1 (kayak single) in the 35-39 age group. Walter Weger also won gold in the MK1 65-69 category, while Hansjörg Mayr triumphed in the MK1 70-79 age group. The K1 team of Lukas Mayr, Markus Hager, and Stefan Senoner added another title, winning the European Championship in the men's open K1 team event.
Senoner won a silver medal in the kayak singles in the MK1 50-54 age group. Bronze went to Markus Hager in the MK1 45-49 category and to Georg Hager in the MK1 70-79 competition. The European Championships were also successful for state parliament member Madeleine Rohrer, who finished fourth in her age group in the kayak singles.

The European Championships on the Mur River, with its natural waters and classic course layout, were reminiscent of earlier eras of canoe slalom. The widely spaced gate combinations and the long course demanded a lot from the participants and made for a unique competition.
Positive conclusion
“I am delighted to have accompanied such a successful Masters team at this European Championship. We took first place in the club ranking and an excellent third place in the nation ranking behind France and Germany,” said Stefan Senoner with satisfaction."The intergenerational team competition was fiercely contested with 13 teams. Our flawless run and close margins allowed us to achieve this top result. This season, we can now look back not only on a very successful youth team, but also on another large and victorious Masters team," was the SC Meran's gratifying conclusion.
