Senoner finishes the Junior World Championships in 4th place

With a silver medal in the team event and an outstanding fourth place in the C1, Lars Aaron Senoner of SC Meran Raika/Torggler has concluded his most successful Junior World Championships to date. The 17-year-old from Merano impressed in Krakow with consistently strong performances and once again confirmed his great international potential.

The highlight was the canoe single on Saturday. After finishing twelfth in the qualifying round, Senoner improved to third place in the semi-final with a near-perfect run, easily advancing to the final. There, the South Tyrolean once again delivered a strong performance. However, a gate touch and the resulting two-second penalty prevented him from reaching the podium. In the end, he missed the bronze medal by just 1,18 seconds.

“Of course, my first thought is briefly about the medal. But I’m simply happy. Fourth place at my second World Championship in the C1 is a huge step for me. After the kayak race, I wanted to show what I’m really capable of – and I succeeded. Overall, I’m taking a lot of confidence away from this week and now know that I can compete with the international elite,” explained Senoner.

Positive World Cup conclusion

Thus, Senoner's World Championship results are entirely positive. The Merano native reached the finals in both Olympic disciplines for the first time at his second Junior World Championships, finishing fourth in the C1 canoe single. Together with Riccardo Pontarollo and Dennis Fina, he also won the silver medal in the C1 team event, repeating their second-place finish from the 2025 European Championships in Solkan.

The Italian team also enjoyed a successful World Championship. On Saturday, Elio Maiutto and Elena Micozzi each won silver in the U23 C1 event, securing two more medals.

After a few days of rest at home, preparations are already underway for the next highlight of the season. The Junior European Championships are scheduled for early August in Épinal, France, where Senoner will once again compete for Italy in both the K1 and C1 events.
