Swimming star breaks 14-year-old world record

French swimming star Léon Marchand has broken the 14-year-old world record in the 200-meter individual medley.

The 23-year-old finished the semifinals at the World Championships in Singapore in 1:52,69 minutes, 31 hundredths of a second faster than American Ryan Lochte's previous record set in 2011.

Marchand won four gold medals and one bronze at last year's Olympic Games. He was one of the biggest stars of the Paris Games. His incredible time in the 200-meter individual medley was the first world record at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
