248 km/h: Italian woman sets skiing world record

Valentina Greggio set a new world record in speed skiing in Vars, France.

Ten years after setting her women's world record (247,083 km/h), the 35-year-old from Verbania has surpassed her own best mark. In Vars, she reached 248,270 km/h on Friday during a race organized by the FIS.

“Apparently, it was fate that it happened on that day,” Greggio explained. It is the anniversary of her first record, which she set on March 3, 2013. This season, she has already won her seventh world championship title in speed skiing on the same course. She also secured the overall World Cup title.

Frenchman Simon Billy, however, was unable to surpass his own men's record of 255,500 km/h (2023).
