Goodbye overall World Cup: Vittozzi is still missing
At the end of the biathlon season that has just begun, there will be a new overall World Cup winner. As the Italian winter sports association FISI announced on Monday, Lisa Vittozzi will not be back in action until after the turn of the year.

In March of this year, Lisa Vittozzi celebrated the greatest success of her career with the overall World Cup victory. She cannot defend this this year - because her body is on strike. The 29-year-old had to sit out the first World Cup stage in Kontiolahti (Finland) due to persistent back problems. These are obviously more serious than expected, because the athlete from Sappada is out until the turn of the year. Vittozzi cannot start in either Hochfilzen (Austria) or Le Grand Bornand (France).
"After training in Obertilliach over the past few days, Vittozzi has decided, in consultation with his coaches, to continue training individually in the coming weeks in order to be in top physical shape in Oberhof," the FISI wrote in a press release on Monday.
