The biathlon star and the slightly different marriage proposal

Bad luck in games, good luck in love: This is how Johannes Dale's situation can be accurately described. The 25-year-old Norwegian has had a difficult year from a sporting perspective in which he was unable to achieve any notable successes and lost his place in the A squad. A hard blow for the biathlete, who had been one of the big climbers the year before and, among other things, won two individual medals at the World Championships. In return, things are going like clockwork for Dale in his personal life.

The Norwegian recently proposed to his long-time girlfriend Kristina Skjevdal, also a biathlete. However, 0815 isn't Dale's thing, and that's why he surprised his loved one in a very special place. During a snow hike in Jotunheimen - the highest mountain range in Norway and Scandinavia - the ski hunter suddenly asked for his sweetheart's hand in marriage.

Pure romance, because you don't see such a picturesque panorama every day. Kristina, as the photos on social media suggest, was surprised but overjoyed and said “yes”. “A good day in Jotunheimen suddenly became much better,” she later wrote on social media, making the engagement public.

Dale himself also spoke up and raved: “2045 meters in altitude, sweat in his hair, sunscreen on his forehead and a ring on his finger. She said yes.” The biathlon family was also impressed by the couple’s engagement, with Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Tiril Eckhoff and Marte Olsbu Røiseland reacting with enthusiastic congratulations. First vacation, then full attack As a newly engaged couple, Dale and Skjevdal went on vacation to New York City. The Norwegian biathlon star wants to recharge his batteries and attack again in the new winter. He has proven again and again in recent years that he has what it takes. A World Cup victory, three more podium finishes, two individual medals at world championships - with such a record he would probably be a fixture in any other biathlon team, except in the ski hunting stronghold of Norway.

On the other hand: There are probably not many places in this world where you can make a marriage proposal as romantic and idyllic as at Jotunheimen. So being Norwegian has its advantages and disadvantages.
