The line-up is: 4 South Tyroleans are traveling to the Biathlon World Cup

Italy took longer than other nations to announce the squad for the upcoming Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic). But now there is certainty.

This year the Biathlon World Championships will take place in Nove Mesto from February 7th to 18th. 10 Azzurri were nominated by sports director Klaus Höllrigl for the season highlight - 5 of which were women and XNUMX men: Dorothea Wierer (Niederrasen), Lisa Vittozzi, Michela Carrara, Samuela Comola, Rebecca Passler (Antholz), Lukas hofer (Montal), Tommaso Giacomel, Didier Bionaz, Elia Zeni and Patrick Braunhofer (Ridnaun).

While the men's line-up was relatively clear, the decision for the women was probably a closer one. Here would also be Hannah Auchentaller, which was last used at the European Championships, came into question. Ultimately, those responsible decided in favor of Carrara. It starts next Wednesday with a mixed relay, in which Italy recently finished second in Antholz. “The mixed relay certainly offers one of the best medal opportunities for us,” said Höllrigl.

The Azzurri have achieved 9 podium places in the World Cup season so far - including 2 in the men's relays. In the individual races, Vittozzi and Giacomel are the hottest irons in the fire. “There is a small question mark behind Doro Wierer. But we are convinced that she will find her form at the training camp in Antholz these days,” explained Höllrigl in conclusion.
