Hannah Auchentaller drops out in Oberhof

In the morning, Italy’s biathlon fans were shocked: Lisa Vittozzi will miss the entire season. In Vittozzi’s absence, Hannah Auchentaller this year she is the second best athlete in the boot-shaped country. However, the Antholz native will miss the sprint in Oberhof on Thursday due to illness. The FISI announced this on Wednesday afternoon.
Auchentaller is 26th in the overall World Cup and made it into the top ten for the first time this season. The 23-year-old has developed particularly well on the shooting range. But Auchentaller will now miss both the sprint and the pursuit in Oberhof. She could be an issue again for a relay race on Sunday at the earliest.
Wierer only South Tyrolean
Dorothea Wierer is the only South Tyrolean remaining in the squad, because Rebecca Passler is at the IBU Cup in Arber. Michela Carrara, Samuela Comola, Martina Trabucchi and debutant Ilaria Scattolo complete Italy's squad in Oberhof.
