In preparation: Dorothea Wierer steps on the gas

At the beginning of the month, Italy's national biathlon team began preparing for the upcoming winter season. Recently, however, Dorothea Wierer & Co. have "drifted off track" a bit.

Will she continue or will she stop? This question preoccupied biathlon fans for a long time before Wierer revealed her secret on May 8th: the South Tyrolean will remain in the sport until the 2026 Olympics in her home country. Since then, things have been quiet for the 34-year-old. Wierer has been back in full training for almost two months and has been back with the team for a few weeks.

For several years now, Wierer has been training in preparation together with the Azzurri men's team, including Tommaso Giacomel, Didier Bionaz and Patrick Braunhofer. On Thursday - at the end of the training camp on the Lavazéjoch - Wierer & Co. gave it their all on the go-kart track in the Safety Park in Pfatten (south of Bolzano).

Also present at this team building event were Wierer's partner Stefano Corradini and her trainer Fabio Cianciana. An additional challenge awaits Wierer in the summer. During the Olympic Games in Paris, the winter sports athlete will work as an expert for Eurosport. This is a new challenge that Wierer is particularly looking forward to, as she repeatedly emphasized.
