Column | A late biathlon happiness

Due to the now official ban on Russian Yevgeny Ustyugov, the German biathlon team, which came second at the time, will now receive the gold medal ten years after the Olympic Games in Sochi. Our columnist Sigi Heinrich suggests that IOC President Thomas Bach should hand out the medals himself. This also applies to Austria and Norway.

In the wake of the Sochi doping scandal, Russian Yevgeny Ustyugov, a member of the supposedly winning relay team, was banned by the International Biathlon Federation (IBU) in 2020. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) then annulled the relay result.
