Lukas Hofer approaches the top

Lukas Hofer has never been so good this year: The Pusterer made a statement at the biathlon sprint in Le Grand Bornand.

Hofer finished 11th on Thursday. The 35-year-old's running performance was particularly impressive compared to the last few weeks. Hofer only missed the last target at the shooting range, otherwise he would have even been in the top 4. The best Azzurro was Tommaso Giacomel, who came ninth. The Trentino native also missed once in the standing shooting.

The Norwegian Martin Uldal took the win in rainy weather. The 23-year-old left his compatriot Johannes Thingnes Bø behind by a measly 1,4 seconds. For Uldal, who is a whiz kid, it was his first success in the World Cup. Unlike Bø, he cleared all the targets at the shooting range.

Rebecca Passler and Patrick Braunhofer, on the other hand, were in action on Thursday at the IBU Cup in Obertilliach. There was a Italian victory given.
