Alysa Liu wins gold in figure skating
Gold in women's figure skating went to the USA for the first time in a long time. A skater from Trentino also performed well in the free skate.

20-year-old American Alysa Liu won gold in the ladies' figure skating event at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan/Cortina, making history in the process. After finishing third in the short program, she turned things around in the free skate, securing the USA's first Olympic gold in the ladies' singles since 2002. Silver went to Kaori Sakamoto of Japan, and bronze to her compatriot Ami Nakai.
From an Italian perspective, Lara Naki Gutmann finished the competition in 15th place overall with 195,75 points. The skater from Trentino delivered a solid performance in the free skate, remaining largely error-free and finishing the competition in a strong 15th place.
