Carolina Kostner world champion for the first time

In the 10th attempt it finally worked: Carolina Kostner is the new figure skating world champion. The 25-year-old from Val Gardena won the title in Nice with a lead of over five points over the Russian Alena Leonova. The Japanese Akiko Suzuki came third. After silver in 2008 in Gothenburg and two bronze medals in 2005 and 2011 in Moscow, she won World Cup gold for the first time.
