Maria Gasslitter causes a sensation

Maria Gasslitter has made it into the final for the first time at the Freestyle World Cup in Aspen (USA).

The 19-year-old finished sixth in the slopestyle qualification with 67,64 points. This qualifies Gasslitter for the top-eight final for the first time. The final will be held in Aspen on Friday (starting at 8:17.30 p.m. CET). Great Britain's Kirsty Muir won the qualification with 80,36 points.

Gasslitter joined the World Cup circuit this year. So far, the young woman from St. Ulrich had never finished higher than eleventh in qualifying. Now, Gasslitter can justifiably hope for the Olympic Games.

Incidentally, Miro Tabanelli, also from Italy, qualified for the men's final. The older brother of the injured Flora finished third. Swiss superstar Andri Ragettli snatched the qualifying victory.
