It's now official: These South Tyroleans are going to the Olympics

The countdown is almost over: In eleven days, the Winter Olympics will begin in Milan, Cortina – and of course, Antholz. On Monday, the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) announced the team roster. Forty-eight athletes from South Tyrol have also received confirmation.

The opening ceremonies will take place in Milan and Cortina on Friday, February 6th, and the first Olympic medals will be awarded the very next day. In short: the Olympics are just around the corner! Italy's complete team has been announced since Monday – and with it, the participants from South Tyrol. A total of 36 winter sports athletes and 13 ice sports athletes from our region will be competing for Olympic honors.

South Tyrol has the most representatives in the team sports of ice hockey and luge – with eleven participants in each. A big surprise is the nomination of 17-year-old skier Anna Trocker. Although the technical specialist hasn't yet scored a World Cup point, she shows great promise for the future. Here is the complete South Tyrolean roster:
