The packed hall of the Grand Hotel in Dobbiaco provided the setting for the press conference to present the major events that await the South Tyrolean town in this intense winter season: Tour de Ski in Dobbiaco (28 December - 1 January), 49th Three Peaks Ski Marathon (11-12 January), 48th Dobbiaco-Cortina Cross-Country Skiing Race (1-2 February) and the first edition of the Paralympic World Championships in Cross-Country Skiing (12-14 February).
The first speaker of the conference was the President of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), Flavio Roda, who, although not present in person, sent his greetings to the organizing committees via video conference, highlighting the high quality of the events organized in Dobbiaco.
Paralympic World Championships in Toblach
Dobbiaco will host the first edition of the Paralympic Cross Country Skiing World Championships in Italy and the second in the world. Paolo Tavian, President of the Italian Paralympic Winter Sports Federation (FISIP), said: "It is an honour for me to be here today and to know that Dobbiaco will host the Paralympic World Championships. My appeal is to come to the tracks and experience the strong emotions that only Paralympic Cross Country Skiing can offer."The highlight of the South Tyrolean winter season on narrow skis is the Grand Opening of the Tour de Ski in Toblach: For the first time, an Italian town will host four days of competition. It starts on December 28th, and the stars will be in Toblach until January 1st. Gerti Taschler, President of the Organizing Committee, underlined Toblach's commitment and the FIS's trust in the local team: "The international association has entrusted us with four stages of the Tour de Ski, something that has never happened before. This makes us proud and our passion for the sport allows us to guarantee top-class competitions with our irreplaceable volunteers."
