Dramatic: Klæbo falls and lies down for a long time

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo also shows human traits: At the home World Cup in Drammen, Norway, the six-time Olympic champion of the games in Milan and Cortina suffered a spectacular fall.

Shortly before the finish of the sprint semi-final in Drammen, American Ben Ogden crashed – and right behind him came Klæbo at high speed. The greatest cross-country skier of all time couldn't avoid a collision and crashed heavily on the downhill section. Klæbo had no chance to avoid him. The Norwegian himself was not at fault for the crash. Klæbo then lay on the ground for about a minute.

The 29-year-old was then supported by two helpers as he left the arena. The many spectators, who had come specifically to see him, applauded Klæbo as he exited the arena. In his absence, his compatriot Ansgar Evensen secured his first World Cup victory. In the women's classic sprint, Sweden's Jonna Sundling triumphed.
