A resident of Kaltern rejoices in the Gsies Valley
Under brilliant sunshine, the Gsieser Tal Run took place on Saturday in the classic style. Thomas Rinner from Kaltern secured the victory in the shorter 30-kilometer race.

Rinner finished in 1:12:13, beating Italian Paolo Fanton (+8,4 seconds). Ivo Nöckler from Bruneck completed the podium in third place (+2:21 minutes). This was Rinner's first podium finish and his first victory at the Gsieser Tal Run. "The conditions were perfect and the snow incredibly fast. I've been trying to win here in the Gsieser Tal for eight years – I've finally done it!" exclaimed the 28-year-old from Kaltern after the race.
In the long-distance race of 42 kilometers, Francesco Ferrari, originally from Modena and now living in the Val di Fiemme, repeated his victory from the previous year. With a time of 1:43:58, he relegated his fellow Italian Christian Lorenzi to second place (+10,8 seconds), while the German Jochen Stull took third. Manuel Amhof from Puster Valley finished fourth (+37,2 seconds).

In the women's race, Austrian Anna Schmidhofer secured a commanding victory after 42 kilometers with a time of 1:55:17, ahead of Italians Anna Giordan (+7:28 min) and Maria Eurosia Debertolis (+8:05). In the shorter distance race, Franziska Müller of Germany took the win in 1:21:40. Austrian Anna Spuller (+3:03) and German Cecil Kümpel (+8:05) completed the podium.
The highlight of the Gsieser Tal Run, the skating race, is scheduled for Sunday. The starting gun will fire at 9:30 a.m.
