Olympic champion’s family expansion: Second child on the way

In the middle of the summer months, a Finnish winter sports star announced happy news.

Finnish cross-country skier Iivo Niskanen and his wife Saana are expecting their second child. Niskanen shared this happy news on his social media during the Midsummer celebrations and mentioned that the baby should be born "before the first snow". The couple announced their first child around two years ago. Now the threesome is becoming a foursome.

Niskanen, the three-time Olympic champion, describes fatherhood as an important and beautiful phase of life that has had a strong impact on him: "It is a wonderful experience and a very important phase of life. Nobody is born a father; it is a role that you have to grow into." So it was no surprise that the euphoric Finn's second child did not take long to arrive.

In any case, it will be a busy autumn, as Niskanen has to prepare for the arrival of his child as well as the upcoming World Cup season. In addition to his private successes as a partner and father, the 32-year-old is considered one of the best cross-country skiers in recent history. His achievements include five Olympic medals (three gold, one silver and one bronze) and six World Cup victories.
