The Norwegian triumphed in Tuesday's classic sprint, securing his seventh gold medal at the Winter Games. Three Italians, including Federico Pellegrino, were eliminated in the semifinals.
Record world champion Klæbo stormed to a dominant victory in his signature discipline, finishing ahead of American Ben Ogden and his compatriot Oskar Opstad Vike, to claim his second gold medal in Italy after his opening win in the skiathlon. This is his third consecutive Olympic victory in the sprint.
Only one more gold medal is missing.
With seven gold medals to his name, the 29-year-old is just one shy of his compatriots and Winter Olympic record holders Marit Bjørgen, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, and Bjørn Dæhlie. Klæbo has four more chances before the end of the Games; at last year's World Championships, he won six titles in six starts.Edit Profile
