Klæbo wins gold – Pellegrino narrowly misses the podium

The Cross-Country Skiing World Championships are currently taking place in Trondheim. In front of a local crowd, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo secured the gold medal in the skiathlon competition.

At the 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo secured gold in the skiathlon for the first time. In front of over 25.000 fans, the Norwegian triumphed in a thrilling sprint to the finish and won his eleventh World Championship gold medal, but for the first time in the 20-kilometer distance race. His compatriots Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget (silver) and Harald Østberg Amundsen (bronze) completed the podium, while Federico Pellegrino missed the podium in fifth place by just two tenths of a second.

The race remained exciting until the end, as a large leading group stayed together for a long time. Over the 20 kilometers - 10 km each in classic and skating technique - Klæbo controlled the pace and waited for the final sprint. As usual, he was unbeatable there and won confidently. Nyenget and Amundsen followed closely behind.
