From a brilliant career to baby happiness

Former cross-country skier Therese Johaug has become a mother. The new mom and her partner recently announced this on social media.

After an outstanding career in cross-country skiing, which was crowned by three overall crystal globes, six Olympic medals and nineteen World Cup medals, Therese Johaug had another great joy: on Wednesday she became a mother for the first time. The birth of her daughter was announced by her partner Nils Jacob Hoff in a joint post on his and the Norwegian top athlete's profile. He assured everyone that the birth was successful and thanked everyone for their support.

Next June Johaug will be thirty-five years old. She retired from competitive skiing in March 2022 and left her mark on the world of cross-country skiing as one of the best of all time. She then announced her pregnancy in January. Former teammates and competitors on the cross-country ski trail took the opportunity to congratulate the Norwegian on this happy event.

Johaug, alongside her compatriot Marit Bjørgen, is considered the most successful cross-country skier of all time. She recorded 82 individual victories in the World Cup (18 of them in the relay) and won a total of 25 medals at major events, 18 of which are brilliant gold. Since her resignation, Johaug has been working as a TV expert for Norwegian television and will now likely invest all of her energy into her new role as a mom.
