Norway wins mixed doubles premiere

A mixed team sprint was held for the first time at the Nordic Combined World Cup in Lahti on Saturday. Ida Marie Hagen and Jens Luraas Oftebro from Norway secured the victory.

Ida Marie Hagen and Jens Luraas Oftebro won the first-ever mixed team sprint in Nordic Combined World Cup history. The Norwegian duo prevailed in the competition in Lahti, Finland, after a 12,5-kilometer cross-country race, finishing in 25:23.6 minutes. Second place went to Minja Korhonen and Ilkka Herola of Finland (+18,8 seconds), while Nathalie Armbruster and Johannes Rydzek of Germany secured third place (+25,1 seconds).

After the ski jumping, Hagen and Oftebro were significantly behind and started the cross-country skiing leg in seventh place. With a 32-second deficit to the leaders, a podium finish initially seemed out of reach. However, the Norwegian team demonstrated their strength in the cross-country skiing: Hagen broke away in the decisive phase, giving her team a lead that Oftebro confidently defended to the finish.
