Norwegian trio leads curious Holmenkollen World Cup

Normally in Nordic Combined, jumping and cross-country skiing take place on the same day. Not so in Oslo, where the women entered the ski jump on Thursday and were only allowed onto the cross-country ski trail on Saturday.

The Nordic combined athletes would have been happy to forego this unusual day of rest. Because the athletes in Oslo are jumping from the normal hill instead of the large hill, a single World Cup competition in Norway's capital will take place over three days: the jumping took place on Thursday, and the run only follows on Saturday. These changes are due to the special ski jump situation and the complex TV logistics.

Host Mari Leinan Lund (142,7 points) has to wait two days to defend her first place after jumping. The Norwegian led a domestic hat-trick, which was completed by Gyda Westvold Hansen (137,5 points) and overall leader Ida Marie Hagen (+122,6 points) in third place. The best Azzurra was Daniela Dejori in 3th place, who will go into the cross-country ski trail 18 minutes behind Leinan Lund.

On Saturday, the men who jump from the large hill will be active in both sub-disciplines of the combination.
