Austrians impress in Ramsau

The Nordic Combined World Cup started on Thursday in Ramsau, Austria with the Provisional Round, in which the local athletes showed strong performances.

Thomas Rettenegger (Austria) impressed with an impressive performance and secured first place with 138,0 points, just ahead of his compatriot Franz-Josef Rehrl, who also shone with 137,3 points. The Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber, one of the top favorites, took third place with 132,5 points.

Local hero Johannes Lamparter finished in a shared twelfth place, which was certainly not satisfactory for the North Tyrolean. With 91,0 meters and 123,8 points, he showed weaknesses in jumping, but thanks to his strength on the cross-country course, he remains a dangerous competitor as one of the best runners.

The Provisional Round serves as a safety round in Nordic Combined if the regular jumping round is cancelled due to weather conditions. Your results then determine the starting order for the cross-country skiing.
