In Friday's mass start competition, North Tyrolean local favorite Johannes Lamparter prevailed after the 10km freestyle cross-country race and a jump, finishing 0,5 points ahead of Stefan Rettenegger. Norwegian Andreas Skoglund came in third, 4,4 points behind.
“What an awesome day in Seefeld!” exclaimed Lamparter, who now leads the World Cup standings even further, after his 105-meter jump in an ORF interview. His fifth-place finish in the cross-country skiing portion had put him in a strong position. “It’s so special to be at the start in front of a home crowd and hear the Austrian national anthem. I knew I needed a really good jump in the mass start. It’s a really cool day. Being on the podium with Steff is especially great.”
