Successful Olympic dress rehearsal for Vötter/Oberhofer

Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer experienced a successful dress rehearsal for the Winter Olympics on Saturday at the World Cup in Oberhof (Germany).

The two South Tyrolean skiers finished the first run in a strong second place. In the second run, they dropped back to third. They ultimately finished 0,164 seconds behind the victorious North Tyrolean pair Selina Egle and Lara Michaela Kipp, who had been in the lead at the halfway point. Second place went to the Germans Elisa-Marie Storch and Pauline Patz (+0,155 seconds).


For Vötter/Oberhofer, this was their second podium finish of the season, following their third place in Sigulda, Latvia, at the beginning of January. With this result, the pair from Völs and Rodeneck, who won the overall World Cup title in both 2023 and 2024, reinforced their Olympic medal aspirations. The women's doubles, which made its World Cup debut in the 2022/23 season, is an Olympic discipline for the first time.

The second South Tyrolean duo, Nadia Falkensteiner (Montal) and Annalena Huber (Kiens), finished in ninth place (+1,516).

Nagler/Malleier miss the podium

In the men's competition, Ivan Nagler (Campill) and Fabian Malleier (Völlan) narrowly missed the podium. After the first run, the duo was in third place. In the second run, the South Tyroleans dropped back to fifth place due to posting the seventh-fastest time, 0,267 seconds behind the winning duo Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt. The Germans finished ahead of the Vorarlberg pair Thomas Steu and Wolfgang Kindl (+0,152). Third place also went to Austria, to the North Tyroleans Juri Thomas Gatt and Riccardo Martin Schöpf (+0,210).

Emanuel Rieder (Meransen) and Simon Kainzwaldner (Völlan) finished the race in ninth place (+0,520).

Mixed European Champions crowned

The Mixed European Champions were also crowned for the first time as part of the World Cup. In the mixed singles, the Germans Max Langenhahn and Julia Taubitz prevailed over their compatriots Felix Loch/Merle Fräbel (+0,063) and the Austrians Jonas Multe/Lisa Schulte (+0,353). Dominik Fischnaller (Meransen) and Verena Hofer (Feldthurns) finished in sixth place (+0,584). Leon Felderer (Latzfons) and Nina Zöggeler (Tiers) finished the race in twelfth place (+1,514).

In doubles, Austria (Egle/Kipp and Steu/Kindl) took the victory, finishing ahead of Germany (+0,174) and Latvia (+0,217). The Italian team (Nagler/Malleier and Vötter/Oberhofer) finished fifth (+0,486).
