Robatscher and Hofer narrowly miss the top 10

An Austrian was crowned winner at her home World Cup in Igls. South Tyroleans Sandra Robatscher and Verena Hofer narrowly missed out on making it into the top 10.

Start record and course record in front of a home crowd - Madeleine Egle had a perfect weekend in Igls near Innsbruck. The 26-year-old was unimpressed by the expectations of her fans on Saturday and drove to victory ahead of the German Julia Taubitz (+0,240 seconds) and her compatriot Lisa Schulte (+0,369).

"I'm really very happy because the pressure was huge. Everyone wanted to say hello to me or shake my hand," she explained after her triumph.

Although it wasn't enough for the South Tyroleans to make it to the top, the Azzurre still showed a strong team performance. Sandra Robatscher finished in a respectable 2th place (+11) after her 0,868nd place in the Nations Cup the day before, working her way back step by step after her recent shoulder problems. Her teammate Verena Hofer was just one place behind (+0,884). Nina Zöggeler finished 18th in Igls (+1,519).

On Sunday, the men's singles competition with Dominik Fischnaller and Co. will take place (10.30 a.m./11.55 a.m.), and in the afternoon the team relay will take place (13.30 p.m.).
