Sandra Gasparini third at the Nations Cup in Igls

Two days before her 20th birthday, the Sterzinger took the podium in the women's race and finished third to secure qualification for the World Cup race on Saturday. Jasmin Gögele from Passiria, on the other hand, has to make the journey home, as she finished in 15th place and missed qualification by just one hundredth. Maria Messner from St. Lorenzen took 22nd place.

In the men's category, Dominik Filehner from Mühlbach narrowly missed a podium place in 4th place, but was able to secure his participation in the World Cup race on Sunday. Likewise Kevin Fischler from Meransen, who took sixth place. Two other South Tyroleans took part in the Nations Cup, Achim Brunner (23rd) and Emanuel Rieder. The latter crashed in the last section after a very strong ride.

In the double-seater race, a strong start helped Ludwig Rieder and Patrick Rastner to finish ninth, which entitles them to take part in the World Cup race. A total of twelve South Tyrolean athletes will throw themselves down the ice channel in Igls this weekend and fight for World Cup points.
