Now the luge athletes have also started.
South Tyrol's luge athletes kicked off their season in the Jaufental valley over the weekend. The race, held on an excellently prepared track – thanks to the organizers ASV Jaufental – was characterized by close times and fast lap times.

In the women's competition, the junior athletes set the pace, providing the three fastest lugers. Silvia Runggatscher from ASV Villnöss edged out Lara Peccei from AMA Wengen/La Val by one hundredth of a second. Iris Runggatscher, also from ASV Villnöss, finished just four hundredths of a second behind.
The men's podium positions weren't quite as closely contested, but the Jaufental valley saw more fast times than ever before as this past weekend. Tobias Müller of ASC Laugen Tisens set a new track record to take the victory in the opening race. He was followed on the podium by Patrick Lambacher of ASV Villnöss and Christian Torggler of ASV Latzfons.
In the doubles competition, Lambacher/Schwienbacher from ASV Villnöss were the fastest. They won ahead of Mair/Müller and Frei/Frei, both from ASC Laugen Tisens.
ASV Villnöss won the youth team competition, ahead of ASV Jaufental and ASC Olang. In the general category, ASC Laugen Tisens was unbeatable. ASC Olang and ASV Latzfons finished second and third, respectively.
