First victories at the start of the Junior World Cup
The Junior World Cup in natural track luge in Winterleiten (Austria) ended on Sunday with two first-time winners. The race on the 940-meter-long track in Styria was the start of the 2024/2025 European Championship season.

There were no surprises in the men's singles. Alex Oberhofer (South Tyrol), the overall winner of the previous season, set the fastest time in both runs and clearly beat Ziga Kralj (SLO/+2.00,59 seconds) in 0,99:1,70 minutes. Oberhofer and Kralj thus repeated their result from last year in Winterleiten. Anton Gruber Genetti (South Tyrol) came third, XNUMX seconds behind.
There was a surprise winner in the women's singles: Nina Castiglioni (South Tyrol), the younger sister of World Cup rider Jenny Castiglioni, celebrated her first victory in the Junior World Cup. The 14-year-old confidently beat her South Tyrolean teammate Lotte Mulser (+2.04,27 seconds) and her older sister Jenny (+0,61 seconds) with the best time in both runs (total time 1,03:2024 minutes). Nina Castiglioni made her mark for the first time in the final of the XNUMX Junior World Cup in Umhausen (AUT) by finishing fourth.
Slovaks win in doubles
The second first victory in Winterleiten was already achieved on Saturday in the doubles: The Slovakians Gabriel Halcin/Samuel Halcin stood at the top of the podium for the first time in 1.06,68 minutes, ahead of Anton Gruber Genetti/Jakob Gruber Genetti (South Tyrol/+0,58) and the Poles Wojciech Kwiecinski/Patryk Hudy (+3,97).After the turn of the year, the Junior World Cup in natural track luge will continue on January 3nd/4rd, 2025 in Passeier.
