25 days after horrific fall: Vonn is training again

US ski star Lindsey Vonn is training again just a few weeks after her horrific crash at the Winter Olympics.

Just 25 days after her horrific crash in the downhill race in Cortina d'Ampezzo, the 41-year-old posted a video on Instagram. "These are definitely tough times, but I'm still grateful... and I'm continuing to work hard. The only goal is to get healthy again. One day at a time," Vonn wrote alongside the clip.

The video shows the 2010 Olympic champion training her thighs, shoulders, abs, back, and arms. At one point, Vonn's seriously injured left leg is treated. At the end of the clip, she even gets up from her wheelchair.

Complex shin injury

The speed specialist suffered a complex shin injury in her crash during the downhill race in Cortina. After her hospital stay in Italy, Vonn was taken by ambulance to the airport and flown to the USA.

One year until recovery

In a few weeks, Vonn hopes to switch from a wheelchair to crutches. "It will take about a year for all the bones to heal," she recently explained. Afterward, she will decide whether the implanted metal parts should be completely removed. Only then is the final repair of her cruciate ligament planned in another operation.

Vonn suffered the cruciate ligament tear in the World Cup race immediately before the Winter Olympics. Nevertheless, the two-time world champion competed in Italy.
