80.000 fans celebrate: Paris and Brignone at the San Siro

Dominik Paris and Federica Brignone are used to large crowds. But being celebrated by 80.000 football fans is not an everyday occurrence, even for the two ski stars. That's exactly what happened before kickoff of the Milan derby.

A few minutes before the start of the prestigious Milan derby, Dominik Paris and Federica Brignone stepped onto the pitch of the San Siro stadium. Accompanied by the announcements from the stadium announcer, thunderous applause erupted for the two ski stars.

On the pitch, Brignone and Paris, who was no stranger to Milan, were greeted by none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 44-year-old Swede has been working as a sporting advisor for Milan since retiring from his playing career. Brignone and Paris were also presented with Milan jerseys bearing their names.

Brignone and Paris brought their Olympic medals with them. The South Tyrolean downhill skier had won the bronze medal in Bormio. Brignone became the big star of the Olympic Games with her double gold in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Lombardy native subsequently had to end her season. Brignone is still suffering from the effects of a serious injury she sustained the previous year. After the ceremony on the field, the two winter sports athletes went to the VIP stand of the San Siro stadium, from where they watched a Milan win the derby 1-0 saw.
