Downhill training on Thursday in Saalbach canceled

The World Cup course in Saalbach-Hinterglemm will be protected on Thursday. The second downhill training sessions for women and men scheduled for the final week were canceled due to the unfavorable weather forecast.

“Everyone’s goal here is to get through the four races on the long weekend. “That’s why we have to protect the slopes a bit,” said Peter Gerdol, the FIS women’s race director.

The clear night and the slightly colder temperatures made two “super good” training sessions possible on Wednesday, which was not what we expected. Now they want to do everything they can to hold the two Super-Gs on Friday as well as the women's downhill on Saturday and the men's downhill on Sunday. “We will set the Super-G as early as possible tomorrow and work on the line with salt,” said Gerdol. As soon as more rain comes, the crews will be withdrawn from the mountain in order to prevent possible further problems.
