Twenty-two-year-old Emma Aicher won on Sunday in the province of Udine, ahead of 41-year-old Lindsey Vonn. It was the young German's fourth World Cup victory overall and her second in the Super-G. The American, however, missed out on her first triumph in her second discipline since her comeback last year.
Aicher and Vonn were in a league of their own in Tarvisio. Third-placed Czech Ester Ledecka finished almost a second behind the leader. Vonn, on the other hand, had been in the lead until the final split. But just before the final jump, she cut in too sharply and ultimately finished 27 hundredths of a second behind Aicher.

Sofia Goggia finished as the best Italian in sixth place. The Bergamasque skier is currently not in her usual form. Hopefully, Goggia will be back to her best in time for the Olympic Games in Cortina. New Zealander Alice Robinson crashed shortly before the finish line but is said to have escaped with only minor injuries.
South Tyrolean women disappoint
The South Tyrolean skiers Sara Thaler, Nadia Delago, and Nicol Delago all failed to score any points. While Thaler and Nadia Delago missed out on the top 30, yesterday's winner Nicol Delago was eliminated after just a few gates. The women's Ski World Cup continues on Tuesday with the giant slalom at Kronplatz. Federica Brignone is expected to make a big comeback on the Erta slope.Edit Profile
