"We are ready for our greatest adventure and can't wait to meet you": This is what ski ace Kristoffer Jakobsen wrote on Instagram a few days ago. He is referring to the joy of having a baby: his girlfriend Erica (she was also a skier until 2015) is pregnant, and the couple will have their first child in 2025. This is the crowning glory of their love after they have been together for 13 years.

30-year-old Kristoffer Jakobsen is a special athlete in the skiing world. The Swede is considered very talented, but sometimes struggles with his nerves. In the 2021/22 season, Jakobsen hit the headlines because he was eliminated in seven slaloms in a row - this took a heavy toll on the 30-year-old.

In Kitzbühel he surprised everyone

On the other hand, Jakobsen has shown time and again what potential lies within him. In December 2021, he made it to the World Cup podium twice, and last season he finally celebrated his greatest success: in the Kitzbühel Slalom (one of the most important races in the world), the Scandinavian finished second and proved his critics wrong.

Last winter was a strong one for Jakobsen: he finished in the top 13 of the World Cup five times. Now the Swede is heading for a very special winter - thanks in part to his personal moment of glory.
